The Missing Ingredient

December 31... Ingredients for Pinoy Style Kids Spaghetti... checked! Ham... checked! Queso de Bola... checked! Ingredients for Graham Cake... checked... ooops.... not yet complete... I still lacked crushed Grahams. But its okay, its still morning, I have the whole day to buy crushed Grahams, after all, I have a handful of grocery stores near my place.

Passed by store 1. No crushed Grahams...

Its okay, there are still other stores.

My BFF asked me why can't just I use the whole Graham crackers instead. I said I just can't. I won't be able to get the consistency that I wanted to achieve for the crust. It won't taste the same as I want it to be. I just want the cake to be perfect - for those who will be eating it - for people I love. 

Passed by store 2. No crushed Grahams...

What? Argh.

My heart skipped a beat. Dub dub... dub dub... dub dub... I just need to have that crushed Grahams...

Passed by store 3. No crushed Grahams...

Oh no! Starting to panic!

I want to give my best for the people I love, but now things are already beyond my control. Okay, Papa God, Brother Jesus, I need Your intervention. I need a miracle! I need crushed Grahams!!!

Passed by store 4 (The last possible store near my place). Still, no crushed Grahams...

Oh-ehm-ghee!!! Now I'm already in a panic mode!

Dead end. No crushed Grahams. I have no other options but to settle using whole Graham crackers for the base of my cake.

I sulked for a few minutes, but soon, I managed to shake off the dismay and  just proceed in preparing the cake. After all, I know, with all my heart, that I did my best for the people I love.

New Year's Eve. Everyone was happy. We all welcomed 2014 with a bang - giving thanks to the Lord for the blessings He has given us and for the more (much more) blessings to come.

What happened to the Graham cake?

"Sarap ng Graham cake ha"

"Ate, paano mo ito ginawa? Kakaiba eh, ang sarap"

"Baby, meron pa ba? Kain tayo ng Graham. Sarap eh."

These are  just few of the comments I got. Oh well! I imagined Papa God giving me a nudge, smiling at me, telling me "I told you, my daughter, just do your best and I will take care of everything. Be still and know that I am God"

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

My First "Feast" Anniversary

April 1: Same date, exactly one year ago... I went out of my comfort zone. I stepped into the grounds of PICC... alone. I entered the Plenary Hall without even knowing any single person. I was surrounded with complete strangers. Silently, I took an empty seat at the farthest back corner slot. This "was" me... shy, dependent on people, lost, hurt, broken. Since I was desperate and had no one to run to (except for a spiritual mentor and friend), I decided to go and follow the suggestion of one of the counselors of the Light of Jesus Community, which was, to attend The Feast. Dapitan Arcade

Since I'm expecting a new visitor at my flat this coming week, I decided to go to Dapitan Aracade to hunt for beautiful but affordable home decors. Thanks to my friend, Jil, for teaching me how to commute going there. From Taft Avenue, ride any jeepney or FX going to SM North or Fairview. Tell the driver to drop you off at Welcome Rotonda. FX fare from Pedro Gil Taft to Welcome Rotonda costs PhP20. From Welcome, cross the street To Burger King. Beside Burger King are jeepneys with a Mayon signage. Take the jeep and tell the driver to drop you off at Dapitan Arcade. Minimum fare P8. Since its a Sunday, and the rain suddenly poured heavily, some of the stalls were closed, including the side-street vendors. Despite this, I was able to buy these items, and the rain did not stop me from haggling with the vendors! Ceramic Balls - initially, I felt bad about this.
